Stephen & Anna Ropp

Stephen has been a youth worker in the County of Newell for more than 19 years. Stephen worked with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in the junior high schools and high schools of Brooks and area from January 2000 to July 2016. Stephen’s passion is to support and encourage the youth in our community in an effort to help them find their strengths, abilities, and purpose in life.

Stephen first joined IVCF while attending Lethbridge Community College where he obtained his journeyman carpentry ticket. He was a prayer coordinator of his IVCF college chapter and when he heard about there high school ministry he got excited about beginning one in Brooks.

He has taught HEROES in local junior high health classes, coordinated 30 HR Famine/STARVE events, Samaritans Purse Shoe box collection, Backyard Bash, Drenched, Getaway to Jesus, Urban Pioneer and other youth retreats.

Stephen brings a practical, down to earth quality to his ministry. He enjoys getting to know young people and participating in their lives – whether that means winter mountain climbing past frozen water falls, bonfires at his acreage, or hearing students’ stories over food.

He has many ideas about how to introduce students to Christ through the great outdoors and country life while making his home the site of retreats, bible studies, and fun events.

Stephen is married to Anna, who spends most of her time with their 5 kids. She also runs Ropp’s Pet Resort and helps with OHYO. They have been married since 2004. Stephen is enjoying planting seeds for the kingdom and dreaming of new ways to minister to youth in Brooks & area.

Why OHYO?

One Hope Youth Outreach was born in August 2016 out of Stephen’s heart for the youth in the County of Newell. While Stephen still supports IVCF and the work that they do in campuses, camps, and schools across Canada, Bridges of Hope was more in line with his vision for the youth of Brooks. Under the leadership of Daniel Zopoula, Stephen’s youth ministry can stretch as big as his dreams.
